The problem with Mexicans
The problem with living in a melting-pot city like Asheville and being as on-the-fence politically/racially/religiously neutral as I am, that you constantly hear the views of all the different ‘types’ of folks that live and clash in false harmony here. One of the topics that always seems to come up is that of ‘The Mexicans’.
The Mexicans this, The Mexicans that. Why the fuck do people honestly dislike The Mexicans so damn much? Ignorance. It’s always the same few ignorant gripes… “they take away our jobs, the newspaper headlines are in Spanish, they clog up the DMV.” What the fuck!
Pretty much every Mexican person I have ever interacted with, has come across as quite nice. I cannot recall one incident with a Mexican person that was negative. I can recall PLENTY of incidents with goofy bastard honkey white folks though, let me tell ya.
Every Mexican person, that I can recall that is new to the area, is here because of their family. The reason they come here is because our quality of living is higher, and they can better provide for their families. Last I checked, that was one of the whole American ‘things’… the children, strong family values, all that shit. So how the fuck does that make people that are trying to BETTER their lives, bad people? Dude, by these peoples logic, the Native Americans should have built a billion dollar wall with border patrol snipers for our honkey asses a way ass long time ago.
The Mexicans steal our jobs. Ok, I have seen out of shape white people “work”. I’ve seen them lethargically walk over to my window to give me my tacos. What I’ve never seen though, is a Mexican worker sitting on their ass acting like a dead log and complaining about their shitty wages. The reason people hire Mexicans is because they are simply better workers. An old acquaintance of mine owns a gazillion dollar temp agency, and I recall one of my conversations with him about this very subject. He says something along the lines of “I don’t give a damn who they are or where they are from, the better worker they are, the more money I make and the quicker I can pay off this goddamn fucking boat.” Point being, here is a dude that knows his shit, and knows that The Mexicans are harder workers.
The Mexicans clog up the DMV. Ok, anyone who possesses a valid NC drivers license right now is probably keenly aware of just how friendly and swift the DMV workers are, and just how much they care about your comfort and satisfaction. Those people have to deal with so many griping complaining dipshits IN GENERAL, no wonder they come across like they hate life and want you to rot in sewage and die. The DMV is what clogs up the DMV.
The Mexicans are a strain on the economy. As if we need to disprove any more myths, might as well get this one out of the way while we’re at it. Last I checked, Mexicans buy a lot of shit just like anyone else. Why do you think they keep building more and more Wal Marts? Because there are more and more people here to shop at Wal Mart. Thus, creating more jobs and improving the local economy.
So, it seems that the problem with Mexicans is that they are good hearted, family-oriented people, they’re hard workers, they increase our local economy, and they really, really know how to cook up damn good food, served lightning-fast, with huge DOS EQUIS draft beers for usually around three bucks.
Man, I just don’t see what the problem is.
Listen..you know people are always looking for something to bitch about and Mexicans seem to be an easy target. The people bitching are the ones who are too lazy to get off their asses and put in a days worth of hard labor. Why do people hire Mexicans? Because Americans in general are too freakin’ lazy to do the work! I am all about them being here and making a better life for themselves and yadda yadda but I think they should be here legally and pay taxes just like everyone else. I realize “the system” i.e. our fucked up federal government makes this a little difficult on them but that’s entirely another soap box.

Undocumented immigrants pay taxes all the time – they pay sales taxes, property taxes passed on through rent, and employment taxes such a social security because paycheck withholding collects much of the federal tax from illegal workers, just as it does for legal workers.
The real economic culprits you seek are those that from this scenario of illegality, profit by taking advantage by paying cash in exchange for work. Many of own Americans are no longer just using racism to drive their actions, instead their views are expressed by more complex combination’s mixing economics, classicism and even serfdom.
The US and Mexico share more than a border, they share entire economic, governance and trade systems. Migrant’s of the world hold true to the motives of coming for better opportunities: to escape puppet democracies and poverty.
When this continent of the Americas (short of saying the world) is NOT doing well and there are opportunities for everyone to succeed, the United States of America will never be well. It’s a good thing for those Millenials – they’re more about working together than other generations that I wonder what kind of approach they will take. Probably more things like the peace corp to improve the world around them… but that truly is another soapbox.
The caveat is that much of this kind of work lies outside the US’s control due to the unique leadership in each country, but that’s the reality of our geo-political role as the top nation in the world.

The problem in this country is not the Mexicans….it is the know it all hypocritical “better then everyone” ignorant lazy people who look as pathetic as they are. Just because Mexicans still have a strong work ethic, care about family values, and contribute to the communities they live in positively. In this country today for some reason there is an “I AM OWED SOMETHING:” attitude! It’s sickening and it’s wrong. YES to all the AMERICANS who have issues with hardworking honest family oriented people working to take care of their family YOU ARE OWED SOMETHING…exactly what you go out and work your ass off to earn!! It’s called work ethic get one and maybe you wont have an issue with others who have nothing at all to do with the tiny little world you live in AND don’t care to!!! Great Post. I believe the majority of white people really want to think the same as you but are held back by the 25-30% of the white racist population and Fox News that bitch about it daily. People like Lou Dobbs (admitted Nazi), Glen(crybaby)Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilley, Rush Limbaugh, Tom Tancredo, Nazi Jan Brewer, and hundreds of other Fox News contributors are the real racists and admit it.
