I’ll give you hints.

Their main color is red.

They tout themselves as the best.

They were bought out or something, and started going downhill.

They had knowledgable tech support people at one point, however they were replaced with idiots.

The sales staff has so much enthusiasm that you almost get the hint they have high school interns calling you reading from a queue card.

They once touted the industries toughest data center with a million levels of backups. Yet, a car crashed into a telephone pole down the road and we had outages for a week.

The first four letters of their company are R A C K.

The last five letters are S P A C E.

UPDATE 12/22/09: Since this post on Rackspace Hosting, I have heard numerous mixed reviews regarding their hosting service. If anyone has any good stories regarding Rackspace, I’d love to hear about them…

It should be said though, that during this time of us moving away from Rackspace to a different managed hosting provider, the calls we received from the slew of ‘personal account manager’ or whatever it was, were absolutely ridiculous. My brother Steve can testify to the voicemails we received. “Uh, this is Jeremy, with um, uh, Racksprace, um Rackspace, um, uhhhhhhhh, oh shit…… Click.”

Really?

  • I agree.. Having used their service for many years I feel that they are now loosing the loyalty of their customers. Overall their arrogance will cost them dearly.

  • Found your post looking to see if others are having the same problems with RackSpace that we are having. They were great and their charges are the highest in the industry, but in the last few months we have had more problems with the server and service than if we were hosting with a cheap low-budget hosting company. They are telling me that my contract extends out to the end of the year but we might have to change to a different hosting company sooner than that. Not that we can’t afford their high charges, we can’t afford their bad service.

  • I left rackspace around 9 months ago because when I tried to add a second server of the same specs the price was almost twice as much as my first server??? For what your paying at rackspace you can get a 3 servers with Server Intellect and have managed servers and services. Much happier now. Preach on!

  • http://www.serverintellect.com/ Does indeed look like a decent hosting company. We’ve heard great things about Slice Host as well.

Other hosting companies I’ve not heard great things about are Host Gator, and GoDaddy.

  • Well,

Server Intellect WAS good company, but now they are worst possible.

I hosted my website 6 years with Server Intellect. First 5 years I was happy.

But, this year I noticed that support is bad, slow and often not competent. Some new people come to SI support.

Ok, even that I could accept, but down time is more and more often. Support questions stays not answered and I am going crazy! Server Intellect looks like cheap web hosting providers, but still costs 10 times more.

Now, finally I am looking for other web hosting company and I don’t know which to choose. I can see that Rack Space is also bad. Well, believe me it can’t be worse than Server Intellect!

Now I only can hope that I will find some reliable ASP.NET web hosting.
