A Photoshop pal of mine asked me to post screenshots of Apollo’s footer design in Photoshop in order to steal my secrets. Here you go dude.

Start off with rough sketches to get an idea of positioning, angles and perspective.

Well, after lots of procrastinating, my brother and I finally gave Apollo Creed Travels the updated its needed. Even though it’s still a tad rough around the edges (we were pressured to launching today after Apollo hit up the Asheville Twestival), we’re pretty happy with how it turned out. Read more »

A quick Google search turned up the Photoshop Gem of the Year in my opinion. This awesome dude Kyle Tunney wrote a snazzy little script that makes counting your Photoshop masterpieces 800 trillion layers in a snap. Today I counted a 697 layer and a 294 layer quicker than it took to write this post which was faster than the ridiculous task of counting layers one by one. Read more »

I got an email from someone asking for a tutorial on how to make brushed aluminum text in Photoshop. This technique is very easy to accomplish using only a few basic Photoshop tools and filters. We’ll be creating a new document, and using the noise and motion blur filters to create our aluminum. We’ll then add some text and play around with a few simple techniques. Let’s get started.

This tutorial will show you how to create a simple brushed aluminum website header similar to this.

Back some time ago, someone recommended that I make a tutorial on animating gif’s using Photoshop. Well, after much procrastinating, I give you the Photoshopper’s guide to making animated gif banners in Photoshop, at the expense of other people.
What the frig are we gonna animate?
Before we can make something animate, we need to figure out what it is we want to animate. Lucky for you, I’ve taken the liberty to come up with a fun idea, and actually have all the imagery premade for your convenience. You can download everything for this tutorial here.
In honor of sexy Sunday school teacher Kay Hagan’s recent defeat of the incumbent senator from NC, we’re gonna pick on Elizabeth Dole. I was extremely happy (like most people in the state) to see Hagan win, especially after her wonderfully offensive godless ad campaign. I even jerked off (like most people in the state) during her victory speech. But, since Dole is such an easy target, we’ll use her. Read more »

For all you green-eared Photoshoppers out there, I’d like to try and de-mystify how layer masks work in Photoshop a little bit. I feel that a proper understanding of layer masks are one of the most important aspects of learning Photoshop. This quick tutorial should give you a general understanding of what the hell a layer mask is, and how the hell to use it.

In this layer mask tutorial, we'll learn to fuck with Bush and McCain in the buff.

Most Photoshop know-it-alls like to call scratchy text ‘distressed’ or ‘weathered’ or some other corny ass sounding effect. I make it a point to never call it distressed or weathered text because it just sounds like some fruitcake Photoshop asshole trying to sound cool. And as we all know, I’m already so far beyond cool that any more coolness would probably make me a real chode waxing dongmaster.
So, today I’m gonna show you how to make GOOD OL’ SCRATCHY text in Photoshop. It’s easier than taking a piss in the woods. If you’re a chick and have to squat to pee, this may seem outrageously difficult. Well, not really. Enough with the bullshit and lets make our text. Read more »

The other day, Tom asked me to spruce up some buttons for a new project we’re working on. His specs were simple, “Just make them kick ass.” I told him, I said, “Ok I will get right on them.” So here I am getting right on them three days later. Hopefully he doesn’t mind that since I wanted to build a tutorial, but had no good ideas other than how to make tits in Photoshop. Read more »

About 700 or 800 times a day I’m asked questions about Photoshop. About 7000 or 8000 times a day I hear something about Barack Obama or John McCain. He said this, he voted for that… man the bickering just does not stop. Now that I am good and sick of both Obama and McCain, and there are now 1 billion people waiting for me to show them something in Photoshop, I figure now is a good time to kick out some fun Photoshop tutorials.

Just a few steps of Photoshop fun and we'll build this simple layout.
